Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
On Monday, Mayor Firhad Hakim took action against a mini truck carrying debris towards South Kolkata, using Majerhat Bridge to fill ponds. Expressing concern over the indiscriminate disposal of debris, Hakim stopped the vehicle, called the traffic police, and had it confiscated.
He emphasized the need for public awareness, stating that while the Municipal Corporation is committed to combating pollution and illegal activities, the cooperation of citizens is essential. Hakim mentioned that a letter has been written to the Kolkata Police Commissioner, and he plans to send another, urging increased monitoring around Majerhat Bridge.
